Spice Girl left red-faced on The X Factor as crew member mistakenly calls her Mel C, ouch

Spice Girls singers Melanie C, Melanie B and Emma Bunton have revealed their regret at missing the chance to reform for the Diamond Jubilee Concert.

Last year rumours abounded that the girl group were set to reunite for the Jubilee concert, four years after the Spice Girls last performed together during their reunion tour.
Ultimately the comeback failed to materialise, with Mel C saying in February: ‘It’s such an incredible opportunity and what a wonderful thing to be able to do, the concert looks like it’s going to be out of this world. But unfortunately we don’t plan to perform or reform, so I’m sorry to disappoint anybody.’
At the time reports suggested Victoria Beckham was against the reunion and now it appears members of the group are gutted to have missed out, with Mel C, Mel B and Emma Bunton all taking to Twitter yesterday during the Diamond Jubilee Concert.
Melanie Brown admitted she was ‘sad’ the Spice Girls weren’t involved, writing: ‘makes me sooo sad spice girls wasn’t part of the queens jubilee, break my heart big time,i was so up for it,watched some of it on tv,amazing!’
Melanie Chisholm seemed rather annoyed not to be part of the concert, adding: ‘Bit miffed I’m not down at Buckingham Palace :-( x’
She later joked with All Saints singer Nicole Appleton that the two groups could have formed a supergroup, after Nicole wrote: ‘ok the spice girls should have rocked this show!!’
Emma Bunton declined to offer her own thoughts on her former band’s absence from proceedings, instead re-tweeting a message from TV presenter Angellica Bell.
Bell wrote: ‘I worship the Spice Girls - why aren’t they performing? @EmmaBunton wish you were on stage! #gutted.’
With at least three of the girls keen for a reunion thoughts have turned to the Olympics opening and closing ceremonies this summer, although this too seems doubtful.
Mel C suggested in February that there would be no more comebacks for the band, saying: ‘We have to respect each other’s wishes. We reformed in 2007 [for a tour] and we had an amazing time, the show was incredible. That kind of feels like our final farewell.’

THE Spice Girls are set to reunite on screen for the first time in five years for a major new TV documentary.
Ginger, Baby, Sporty, Scary and Posh have been given their own prime-time 90-minute ITV1 special titled Spice Girls – Viva Forever.
The Spicy spectacular will air on December 14, the same week their musical opens in the West End.
My telly snitch let slip: “The documentary will chart the group’s amazing rise to fame with all five girls being interviewed about what it was like becoming world famous stars.”
Producers are also hoping to lift the lid on what life is like for the “girls” as they approach 40.
My snitch added: “Execs are hoping to convince the girls to let the cameras follow them around to show what it’s like for each of them 16 years after finding fame.”
The last time the five-piece spilled the beans about being in the world’s biggest group was back in 2007 for the hour-long BBC show Giving You Everything.
Five years on and the girls are coming back to Spice Up Your Life once more.

It has been announced that actress and comedian Jennifer Saunders (Photo) will be writing the script for Viva Forever – the new Spice Girls musical, which will portray friendship, celebrity and fame with the music of the Spice Girls.
Judy Craymer, the producer of the show as well as the current West End hit Mamma Mia!, confirmed the appointment in a statement saying : ”Having Jennifer Saunders on board is the best possible start Viva Forever can have’ and continues to praise Saunders’ talents by adding “Jennifer is brilliant at writing about these themes and the Spice Girls’ songs connect powerfully in a smart and moving way.”
It is not the first time Saunders has had a connection with the Spice Girls as she had a cameo in the 1997 Spiceworld film.
Jennifer stated: “I’m thrilled and terrified at the same time. It is very exciting to be writing a musical that encompasses the music and energy of the biggest girl-band of all time. My daughters grew up with The Spice Girls, I had to do it for them as well as myself. It’s been great fun working with Judy Craymer. We have had some hilarious days together in the process so far.”
The musical is being produced by Craymer in association with Universal Music, Simon Fuller and the Spice Girls, and is expected to hit the West End in 2012.
Fuller, the Spice Girls’ manager, added: “The girls and I are really happy that Jennifer is writing the book. She has really identified and incorporated what the Spice Girls represent to women around the world.”

The Spice Girls musical is to premiere before Christmas, a report has suggested.
Viva Forever will open at the Piccadilly Theatre in December, according to the Daily Mail. Ghost the Musical, which is currently playing at the venue, is believed to be closing this autumn as a result.
Auditions for Viva Forever are apparently due to begin next month, with rehearsals to follow in September and the first previews in November. Spokespersons for both musicals are yet to make comment.
Earlier this year, Melanie C dismissed rumours that Viva Forever had been delayed due to a difference of opinion between her and Mel B over the finer points of the project.
She said that she was “starting to get very irritated” with the claims.
Melanie C is also due to appear as Mary Magdalene in an arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar alongside BBC Radio 1 breakfast show host Chris Moyles (playing King Herod).
Musician and comedian Tim Minchin will also appear in the role of Judas.

The days of her being known as Sporty Spice may be well in the past, but she displayed signs that she is still fighting fit. Former Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm showed off her toned legs while enjoying a family picnic, yesterday afternoon.
The 38-year-old spent a lazy sunny Sunday out with her daughter Scarlet and partner of 10 years property developer Thomas Starr, in Hampstead, London.
Melanie looked great in a pair of loose fitting denim shorts which she teamed with a black vest, a straw hat and a pair of grey Toms shoes. The fun day out was not just about spending some quality family time together, as the singer-songwriter was also supporting her local library. The threesome went to the opening of Keats House community-run library where they enjoyed a picnic in the garden and even met up with another celebrity.
The family linked up with Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman, 37, and the adults sat down together while the children were entertained by a person reading them a short story.
While Mel played around with her three-year-old, Thomas was armed with a big camera to capture the special memories. Little Scarlet is definitely growing into a mummy’s girl and she even had her own sun hat that was very similar to the actor’s.
After leaving the library they headed to the Freemasons Arms pub for a spot of dinner and also picked up some ice cream, but got caught up in a local protest.
Melanie tweeted in encouragement: ‘Go! Hampstead residents, today protesting against a new phones4U closing another local independent shop. Come on landlords #realshops’. The eventful day proved to be too much for Scarlet and her tattooed mother had to pick her up and carry home.
Chisholm also denied rumours that she was being lined up to appear on X Factor as part of the judging panel. When questioned by one twitter user about the prospect of her appearing on the show she simply said: ‘@danwootton that’s news to me Dan!’
